John F. Gorman

John Gorman grew up in the Berkshire Hills of Western Massachusetts where his family's 111 acres bordered the Appalachian Trail. He started hiking and backpacking in the White Mountains in the mid-seventies and moved to North Conway in 1979 to work on the construction of the Sherman Adams Summit Building atop Mount Washington. A roommate of Steve Eastman in the early eighties, John continued to explore the Presidential Range and the AMC huts with his four sons and developed a long-term relationship with Mud Bowl as well as with a handful of watering holes in Mount Washington Valley.

A lifetime member of the Friends of Tuckerman, John was excited to be invited to join the Board of Directors at the inception of Friends of Tuckerman Ravine. The ravine actually had so positive an influence on him that he named his youngest son "Tucker".

Living and working in Boston since the mid eighties John is a permit and construction consultant and who has also been involved in the political wars around the country as a (D) consultant. His current front burner project is the design and construction of a zero fossil fuel home off the grid at the southern tip of Duxbury Beach.
